MENDOCINO Co., 3/10/17 — A teenage boy was airlifted to Santa Rosa today with major injuries after he was struck by a pick up truck driven by another teenager. According to a Califorina Highway Patrol press release, the 17 year old, of Nice, CA, was riding his skateboard holding on to the side of a pickup, traveling slowly down Main St. The pick up was driven by Garret Pierachini, 19, of Potter Valley.

According to the CHP release, the “juvenile was holding onto the bed of the Chevrolet pickup as the driver of the Chevrolet was traveling at slow speeds.” The skateboarder then “lost his balance and fell underneath the Chevrolet pickup,” and was then struck as he lay on the ground.
The skateboarder sustained major injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. No drugs or alcohol are suspected as a factor in the accident at this time.

We will update if more information becomes available.
