ORIGINAL:
MENDOCINO CO., 2/4/17 — Highway 1 closed just west of the intersection with Highway 101 at Leggett due to a slide on the evening of Friday, Feb. 3 at around 7:15pm. Mud from the slide pushed a k-rail across the road, according to Facebook post from Caltrans. The slide appears to have shut down Highway 1 for several miles in both directions, beginning with mile marker 1 west of the 101.
Crews are currently assessing the situation and we will post updates as they become available. As of now, CHP is reporting it may take days and possibly weeks for the road to re-open. There are also currently reports of rocks in the road on Highway 162 to Covelo, as of Saturday morning, Feb. 4.Kym Kemp at Redheaded Blackbelt also has an update here.
