MENDOCINO Co., 4/27/18 — Are you a small business owner who wants to expand your services, or have you been dreaming about starting a small business of your own? On May 17, Mendocino County’s Economic Development and Finance Corporation (the EDFC) will be holding a workshop focused on “Access to Capital,” where you can learn how to fund your business through local lenders and other investment opportunities, hear from business owners who have successfully navigated the process, and have time after the event to network with other local business owners.
At the workshop, EDFC staff will outline different opportunities for funding for local businesses, and help you understand your options to expand, so you can evaluate what works best for you and your business. The workshop will take place in Ukiah, and there will also be an “interactive live-stream” in Fort Bragg at the same time. The presentation will be followed by a chance to connect to members of the local Ukiah and Mendocino chapters of the chambers of commerce, whether you’re on the coast or inland.
Here at The Mendocino Voice, we know how challenging it can be to launch a start-up company, and (full disclosure) we’ve received a lot of great advice about running a small business from our local mentors at West Company and around the county — and that has made all the difference in getting this newspaper started. If you’re hoping to expand your business in Mendocino, we definitely recommend checking out the opportunities outlined in this workshop. Finding funding can be one of the most difficult aspects of starting a new business, or growing one, in a rural county, and so learning about your local options is a great place to start to make your dream become a reality.
