WILLITS, CA, 7/9/18 — The new era of cannabis legalization is here, but what exactly that means for Mendocino County remains uncertain. One thing that is clear is that there are now a variety of legal jobs in the cannabis industry — and compliant companies are hiring. To help connect employees with prospective employees, the second annual Mendocino Cannabis Job Fair will take place at the Little Lake Grange in Willits on July 28.
Looking for a cannabis job or looking for some help? Here’s more info:
Mendocino Cannabis Resource will be hosting the job fair. Last year, the event brought in about 500 jobseekers, more than 70% of who were from Mendocino County, who spoke with representatives from companies both Mendo-based or seeking to hire Mendonesians for a wide range of different positions. Organizer Karen Byars noted one motivation for holding the job fair is to highlight how the cannabis industry presents opportunities to strengthen the local economy.
Businesses seeking to hire or sponsor the event should get in touch, and prospective job seekers can register in advance here, which helps beat the lines. The event will take place Saturday, July 28, in two sections. From 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., with an advance $10 ticket, you can attend the early entry portion, as well as send your resume to employers prior to the event and get resume writing tips. Then, from 1 – 4 p.m. the job fair will be free to attendees, and you can register that day at the door, but registering in advance still helps with the line. Attendees must be at least 21 years of age and organizers recommend professional attire.
There will be cannabusinesses looking to hire full time, part time, seasonal, and independent contractors for a range of positions: Accountant-book keeper, administrator-executive assistant, human resources, consultant, budtender-retail, chef, delivery driver, extraction tech, environmental scientist, farmer & garden laborer, lead grower, lead growers assistant, management, packaging, processing, sales-marketing, lab techs, security, trimmers, and nursery tech-propegators.
