UPDATE, 8:50 a.m. — It appears that the medical helicopter landed at the Willits Airport, rather than near the bypass. As of 8:55 a.m. the north end of Main St. remains closed.
WILLITS, 10/5/18 — An SUV apparently veered off the road this morning in Willits and struck a residential propane tank, causing a leak and closing the north end of Main St. in Willits. It appears that the bypass, and thus traffic on U.S. Route 101, remains open, but that the northern interchange to the bypass has been closed.
The vehicle, a Forerunner, overturned and the occupants were stuck inside. Upon extricating the occupants Little Lake Fire called for an air ambulance, to land near the north interchange of the Willits Bypass. A propane company has been called to the scene to assist with controlling the leak.
If you need to get on the 101 it is recommended you enter from the southern bypass.
We will continue to update.
