MENDOCINO Co., 12/7/18 — The Cal Fire Mendocino Unit announced this morning that with the arrival of cool temperatures and rains, the winter burn season will officially begin December 10, and burn piles will now be allowed in the “state response area,” the areas for which Cal Fire has jurisdiction. Burn piles of larger than 4’x4′ will still require a permit, and all burning must occur on official “permissive burn days.”
The Mendocino County Air Quality Management District is the agency that determines which days are burn days — you can check their website here.
Cal Fire estimates the winter burn season will be in effect until about May 1.
