WILLITS, 1/25/19 — The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a large “search and rescue” operation in Covelo today, as part of the search for the missing Khadijah Britton, or her remains, after new pieces information came to light. Britton has been missing for almost a year now.
Lt. Shannon Barney of the MCSO, stated that, “We’ve had several pieces of information…I’d say it’s numerous rumors,” and that as a result the MCSO in conjunction with a variety of other search and rescue agencies have launched a one day search.
The search is taking place in the west end of the Round Valley, from behind Round Valley Indian housing authority, all the way up to “Pink Gate Rd.,” with 64 people joining in the operation as well as cadaver dogs, in three teams.
The search is planned for one day, though Barney noted that they are very open to returning if new information or tips come to light. He added that if people stay clear, and are careful around the searchers and dogs, it will help them work more safely and efficiently.
The Facebook post below includes a list of all the agencies involved.
