MENDOCINO Co., 1/23/19 — Here’s a small item, but somewhat telling. The North Coast’s U.S. representative, Jared Huffman, was scheduled to hold a town hall today in Ukiah, but it has been cancelled due to the ongoing partial federal government shutdown. Huffman’s office holds these events every couples months, and they are usually well attended in this overwhelmingly Democratic district — Huffman consistently wins the district with around 70% of the vote.
Here is the brief statement made on the event’s page:
CANCELLATION NOTICE: The Town Hall on Jan. 23 is canceled.
Due to the continuing government shutdown, I will stay in Washington D.C. next week to vote on new legislation to reopen and fund most federal agencies as we continue to try to end the ongoing shutdown. Please stay tuned for a new date.
When: To be rescheduled
Hope to see you soon,
Congressman Jared Huffman
So just in case that was your plan for a Wednesdays night in Ukiah, you’ll have to fine another diversion — we hear that karaoke at the Ukiah Brewing Company is decent.
