6/19/19 — The Mendocino County Air Quality Management District is cautioning that smoke from the from the East Fire, currently burning in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness, may be traveling south in the coming days, and create “unhealthy” particulate concentrations in northern Mendocino County, specifically Covelo. The District has plans to deploy an air monitor to Covelo to check the situation based on forecasts of a northerly wind in the coming days.
An air rating of “unhealthy” means that everyone should refrain from strenuous outdoor activity, but it could be especially hazardous to sensitive populations including adults over 65, children under 12, pregnant women, and people with pre-existing lung disease.
They will continue to monitor the situation. Here is more information from the Air Quality Management District and the Mendocino Department of public health.
