ORIGINAL:
MENDOCINO Co., 1/12/17 — At about 8:20am the California Highway Patrol recieved a call that a car had run off Hwy. 101 and into Outlet Creek. The incident happened at about mile marker 57, or roughly where the Hwy. 101 meets Hwy. 162.
It was a single vehicle incident. One person in the car managed to get out and climb up the banks to the road — they were transported by ambulance to Howard Hospital in Willits.
Another person remains in the car as of this time.
Little Lake Fire responded to the incident, and deployed they swift water rescue to team, to attempt to extricate the second occupant from the vehicle. They remain on the scene, and the situation is ongoing. The southbound slow lane is currently blocked by emergency vehicles.
The creeks in rivers in the area remain swollen and moving rapidly after this week’s heavy rains.
