MENDOCINO CO., 5/2/18 — A vehicle caught fire in the southbound lane of US Route 101, near the top of the Ridgewood Grade at around 4:15 p.m. today, causing a traffic back up. According to the California Highway Patrol’s incident page, it appears that at least some of the occupants managed to evacuate the vehicle, and it does not appear that anyone was injured, but that is not confirmed.

The vehicle is described as either a Toyota Tundra or an SUV, and the cause of the fire is unknown. The road way has now mostly been cleared, and traffic is flowing again.
