The following is a November 16th press release from the Ukiah Police Department. The Mendocino Voice has not verified any of the information. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Statistics
Arrests included: 7 for warrants, 5 for public intoxication, 5 for Domestic Violence, 2 for driving under the influence, 2 for being under the influence of a controlled substance and/or possession of drug paraphernalia, 2 for vandalism, 2 for resisting arrest and one each for possession of a dangerous weapon, assault on a officer, violation of parole, evading an officer, and possession of a controlled substance. Of these arrests two were additionally charged with violation of probation or violation of parole.
Officers investigated and took reports of: 3 found property, 2 traffic collision, 2 Ukiah City code violations, 3 suspected child abuse, 4 thefts, and one each of missing person, mental health evaluation, vandalism, sexual assault, burglary, assault on a school official, sex registrant, identity theft, embezzlement, child abuse and threats.
The Patrol Division’s average response time to in-progress calls was over 3 minutes. The average response time to all other calls was over 11 minutes.
Highlights for the Week
On 11/09/16, at approximately 9:56 AM, a Ukiah Police Officer observed Gabriel Campos in the 200 block of East Gobbi Street. The officer knew Campos to be wanted for a felony MCSO warrant for his arrest for robbery. The officer contacted Campos and placed Campos under arrest without incident. While searching Campos incident to his arrest, the officer found that Campos was concealing a dirk/dagger in his waist. Campos was additional charged with possession of an illegal weapon. 16- 3198
On 11/09/16 at approximately 5:52 PM., Officers responded to 677 N State St regarding an assault victim. The victim reported to officers that Tyrone Ogden had physically assaulted the victim by punching the victim once in the face, causing visible injury to the victim’s nose. Ogden fled when police were notified. Officers were unable to locate Ogden. Ogden was found to be wanted for Felony MCSO bench warrants for robbery and violation of parole. Ogden was also found to be on PRCS for violation of 69 PC. Ogden was later located in the 2700 block of Old River Rd. While officers took Ogden into custody he physically resisted, spat on and threatened Officers resulting in additional charges. 16-3201
On 11/11/2016, at approximately 2:30 PM, Ukiah Police responded to Safeway due to a physical fight in progress involving 4 subjects. While responding, officers were advised that all but one of the involved parties had left in a vehicle. Officers arrived and contacted Cirrus Clouden. Clouden was hostile towards officers, screaming “Taze me” and challenging officers to fight. Clouden was taken into custody without incident and found to be intoxicated. The owner of the damaged vehicle had left the scene and Clouden was arrested and booked intot he county jail for public intoxication. 16-3214
On 11/11/16 at approximately 9:50 PM, Ukiah Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at 680 S. State St., Rite Aid. Officers were advised a white male adult wearing a baseball hat, grey hooded sweatshirt, and jeans was chasing a juvenile on foot in the parking lot of Rite Aid. Officers arrived and located a male subject matching the description provided. This subject was identified as Joseph Nelson. As officers spoke with Nelson, they noticed Nelson was hiding his right hand inside the sleeve of his sweatshirt. Officers ordered Nelson to show his right hand and Nelson shook his head no, refusing to remove his hand from his sweatshirt. Nelson began to slowly move his right arm behind his back in an attempt to hide his hand. As Nelson moved his arm, an officer was able to see Nelson was holding a wooden object in his hand. Officers believed Nelson was holding a weapon and ordered him to drop what he was holding. Nelson then released his grip and a 20 inch long wooden billy club fell onto the ground. Nel;son was taken into custody and arrested without incident for possession of an illegal weapon. 16-3218
On 11/12/16 at approximately 7:31 PM, Ukiah Police were dispatched to the Ruen Tong restaurant, 801 N. State St. regarding a man who left the restaurant without paying for his meal. As officers responded they learned that an employee of the restaurant was following the suspect south on N State St. Officers arrived and located the employee who identified John Pocza as the suspect in this theft. Pocza was found standing in front of the Pub Bar. Officers contacted Pocza and found that he was intoxicated. Pocza was then placed under arrest for public intoxication. While placing Pocza into the patrol vehicle, Pocza kicked the officer on the hip and then spat into the officer’s face. Pocza was removed from the vehicle, so that a leg restraint and a spit hood could be placed on him to prevent further assaults. Once secured Pocza was placed back into the vehicle without injury and booked intot he county jail. 16-3224
On 11/14/16, at approximately 4:48 AM, a Ukiah Police officer was conducting a security check of a closed business located at 720 N. State Street. While traveling through the parking lot, the officer noticed a red car parked in the back of the parking lot. The officer saw that there appeared to be a subject who was seated low in the drivers seat, as if trying to not draw attention. The officer contacted the subject and identified him as Charles Sams. A records check of Sams was conducted and the officer learned that Sams had a warrant for his arrest. Sams was arrested and booked into the county jail. 16-3229
On 11/14/16 at approximately 11:49 AM, Ukiah Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Cherry St. After contacting the driver, Melinda Castorena and the passengers, James Miller and Vicente Gonzalez. While speaking with the three, officers learned that Gonzalez had 5 Mendocino County warrants for his arrest and Miller was found to have a Parole Warrant and a Mendocino County Warrant for his arrest. Both were arrested without incident. Durign a search of Gonzalez he was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. Gonzalez was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and both were booked into the county jail. 16-3235
On 11/15/16, at approximately 2:47 PM, Ukiah Police were watching the Alex Thomas Plaza due to ongoing complaints. While watching the park officers observed two subjects drinking alcohol. These two subjects were contacted by officers and identified as Christopher Baughman and Dylan Cook-Schuleter. Officers found that both had been drinking from a bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. Both Baughman and Schuleter were issued citations for the violation of drinking in public. 16-3239
