MENDOCINO Co., 9/13/19 — The University of California, Hopland Research and Extension Center will be hosting a presentation from UC Berkeley’s Cannabis Research Center this Sunday, Sept. 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Researchers will present their findings from a survey assessing cannabis cultivators’ experience with regulations, as well as water usage and other matters. It’s an opportunity to see what is the current state of academic research into this important part of the Mendocino economy — and often these academic findings go on to be important in the formulation of governmental policies.
Concerning water, the researchers asked: “How much water does the average cultivator use? Where does the water come from? What farmers are successful at observing the forbearance period?”
Here are all the details:
Cannabis Cultivation Research Report Back
Join us on Sept 15th at 2pm -4pm at Hopland Research and Extension Center to hear from UC Berkeley’s Cannabis Research Center researchers on a recent survey of cannabis cultivators and research on water use in cannabis production.
Based on hundreds of responses throughout California, the survey assessed cultivators’ experiences with and perspectives on regulations. What encourages or discourages cultivators participation in governmental regulatory systems?
How do regulations affect farming and environmental practices?
Also, hear about what UC researchers have learned about water use for cannabis production. Using three seasons of water use data from the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, researchers asked:
How much water does the average cultivator use? Where does the water come from? What farmers are successful at observing the forbearance period?
