UPDATE 1:31 p.m. — Cal Fire has reported that the forward progress of the fire has been stopped. It appears that most of the additional resources have been cancelled and that firefighters are mostly in mop-up mode now. Brooktrails residents have likely heard the helicopter flying over Brooktrails several times to scoop water out of Lake Emily.
ORIGINAL
WILLITS, 9/20/19 — A vegetation fire is burning northwest of Brooktrails, about seven miles northwest of the intersection of Sherwood Rd. and Main St. in Willits, or about four miles northwest of the main section of the Brooktrails development. According to Cal Fire, forward progress of the fire has been stopped.
Based on the position of the aircraft attacking the fire it appears to be burning to the west of Blue Lake Rd. high on a ridge, where there are structures, however, fairly distant from the main neighborhood.
The fire appears to be have consumed between half an acre and an acre of vegetation as of 1:20 p.m., and firefighters have reported a relatively slow rate of spread with potential for two acres.
Brooktrails Fire Department has responded to the fire, as has Cal Fire, but Little Lake Fire has not, indicating that the fire is relatively manageable. In situations of greater danger it is common for a “mutual aid” call to be made, and for several departments to respond.
